As of March 7, 22 workers have died this year (Source). This means that every three days an Australian worker can expect to lose his/her life. This frightening statistic is something that should concern every Australian and is part of an employer’s responsibility.
In the current Work Health and Safety legislation responsibility was shifted to the employer to ensure that their workers are competent. Employers are required to take “reasonable and practical” steps to ensure the competence and safety of their workers.
Compliance is now everyone’s concern.
