One of our many Success Stories
Hein Pretorius has had a wide variety of farming experience which not only spans across many years but also across the world! His farming experience began in Zimbabwe in 1975 where he was involved in dairying, beef production and cropping. Next, Hein spent three years working in a bank within South Africa, he then changed pace a little and spent four years banking in New Zealand. His love for agriculture prevailed and he became involved with dairy farming for a further four years.
His roles over this time have included; Operational & strategic planning and the production and management of cropping systems and dairy farming systems.
He then began his journey with Ag Training on the 12th July 2006.
Due to his vast farming experience Hein was able to complete the winter Harvest with Harvest Force as a Harvest Manager.
He was eligible to make use of our RPL (Recognised Prior Learning) system and was fast tracked through the Certificate III in Agriculture - Course Code RTE 30103A Skills Set in Machinery Operation & Maintenance, by the 7th February 2007.
Hein is now utilizing his previous knowledge from his banking and farming backgrounds to continue his journey as Marketing Manager for Harvest Force.
Our Training Manager, Rex Davis, was quoted saying,
…"I could see that Hein had potential when he entered the training room. His fantastic and somewhat contagious enthusiasm has been a great asset to him in his training and also for us as a company."
Farm Safety plea – A reminder to think before we act!
A 41 year old was recently killed after the hydraulic equipment he was repairing fell on him.
The man had been slashing grass on a property when wire became entangled in the slasher. In an attempt to remove the wire, the man raised the slasher off the ground; whilst he was repairing it the slasher fell and pinned him down.
A family member found the man a number of hours after the incident. He died at the scene.
