RTC3713A : Carry out Workplace Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Procedures (CORE UNIT)
Course Description :
This competency standard covers the process of carrying out enterprise Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) policies and procedures. The purpose of this unit of competency is to inform participants of their responsibilities under legislation and also what the enterprise expects with regard to OHS.
In this competency participants will develop the skills to identify hazards in the workplace, assess the risk posed by this hazard and make suggestions on possible controls. Participants will also be given the knowledge on how to carry out your work duties safely and discharge your legal obligations.
To achieve competency in this unit participants must demonstrate that they have:
- knowledge of their responsibilities under the relevant legislation and enterprise policies/procedures
- understand hazard identification, risk assessment and controls
- demonstrate that they can carry out safe practices during work
- participate in arrangements and suggestions to ensure the safety of everyone within the workplace
