The latest regulations on drones in Australia

Drone’s have been around for a long time but with the recent growth in sales the rules are being toughened up.

To find out more about drones take some time to look at the CASA website. (Click Here).

CASA’s role is to deal with safety and therefore there are strict requirements for commercial and hobby operations of a drone.

Last year a hobbyist was the first person fined for not abiding by the requirements. You can read about that here (Click here)

CASA regulations state that hobbyists who fly for no commercial gain cannot fly their drones:

• Within 3 nautical miles of an airport;

• Above 400 feet in controlled airspace (large towns and cities);

• Over populous areas;

• Within 30 meters of people;

• At night.
